Celebration and Activism
This exhibit shows that anything is possible if you have a dream, work hard and pursue it. It talks about building relationships. And being proud of where one comes from. And bringing love and compassion to all one does. The exhibition includes work from artists Benny Barrios and Jerald Silva.

Latino Center of Art Flyer February 2018

Barrios showed young artists not just how to paint, but showed them the life of an artist and what it takes to be an artist, and that artists can be among an select group. He drew inspiration from braceros, up from Mexico to work with their hands. Social justice and immigrants are important. Barrios worked with Cesar Chavez and many in the farm workers’ movement. He is remembered not just through his art, but also through his teaching and his art gallery.
